A painting buddy and I decided we'd paint this clump of trees. The bare trunks against the blue sky and the challenge of many shades of green were the attraction for us.

Painting side by side, we were well into our sketches when we heard a loud crunch, crunch, crunch coming from the bushes. When the willows started waving, we both dove for our cameras. Too late! The cinnamon colored bear popped out of the bushes, took a look at us and made a U-turn back from whence he came. Neither of us got a photo.

No bear photo, but I did get the above 7 x 5 tree sketch. Mission accomplished.

Miriam Brock Fine Arthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11923788096572119493noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-965610637381889730.post-67045984948284647102011-02-25T19:12:00.004-07:002011-02-25T19:25:12.869-07:00 It was September. At the crack of dawn the mountain peaks turned bright yellow. The rest was pink. As the sun rose higher there was more yellow and less pink until the sun had fully risen and normal colors returned. What an awesome sight - well worth the early wake up and frigid air. This original oil painting is 6 x 8 and is available for $125 unframed. The family still runs the apple farm and maintains the homestead in honor of their family.
